Why equipment fails here

Hard Water Is the Main Thing That Kills Equipment in Allen

Allen is supplied by the North Texas Municipal Water District from Lavon Lake, and that water carries a heavier mineral load than the Dallas supply used further south. For a pool, most of what that means shows up on the equipment pad rather than in the water.

Calcium comes out of solution on the hottest and the most electrically active surfaces in the system. In practice that is the heat exchanger inside the heater and the plates inside the salt cell. A scaled heat exchanger stops transferring heat and the heater runs longer for less result; a scaled cell produces less chlorine, which usually gets blamed on the salt level first.

Evaporation makes it worse rather than better. Water leaves, minerals stay, and every top-up through an Allen summer adds more — so equipment that was fine in May is often the thing that fails in August.

This is why we check calcium hardness and saturation on Allen pools rather than only chlorine and pH. Most of the heater and cell failures we are called to were visible months earlier in the water chemistry.

What we repair

Pool Equipment We Repair in Allen

Pumps

Motors, seals, impellers and variable-speed drives. We will say when replacing beats repairing.

Filters

Cartridge, DE and sand. Cleaning, element replacement, multiport valves and pressure faults.

Heaters

Gas heaters and heat pumps — ignition, sensors, pressure switches and scaled heat exchangers.

Salt systems

Cells, boards and sensors. Most cells here need cleaning before they need replacing.

Automation

Control boards, actuators, valves and sensors, including the wiring that ties them together.

Leaks

Pad plumbing, fittings and valves, plus diagnosis for leaks under the deck or in the shell.

How a repair works

Inspection First, Then a Price

1. Inspection — $99

We test the water and go over the whole pad, not only the part you called about. Problems rarely arrive alone.

2. Written quote

Parts and labour set out separately, with the markup stated rather than buried. Nothing happens until you agree it.

3. Repair

Usually within 24 to 48 hours of the call. If the pool is green or leaking onto the pad, say so and it moves up.

Repair is a standalone service — you do not need to be a weekly customer. If you are, the pad is checked on every visit, which is how most of these get caught before they fail. See weekly pool maintenance, filter and pump maintenance, or pool service in Allen.

Before you call

Equipment Repair in Allen — Common Questions

Why do heaters and salt cells fail early in Allen?

Hard NTMWD water. Calcium deposits on the heat exchanger and the salt cell plates, both of which depend on a clean surface to work. Cleaning on a schedule is far cheaper than replacing either.

How much does pool equipment repair cost in Allen?

Inspection is $99 and comes with a written quote. Repairs are priced per job after that, agreed before any work starts.

Can a scaled salt cell be cleaned or does it need replacing?

Usually cleaned, if it is caught before the coating damages the plates. We check that first — replacing a cell that only needed an acid wash is an expensive way to fix nothing.

How fast do you respond to a repair call in Allen?

Typically 24 to 48 hours. Tell us if water is on the pad or the pool has gone green and we will move it up.

Something on the pad stopped working?

Book the $99 inspection and you will have a written price the same day.
